This weekend in Greece

This weekend is the Greek Food Festival at the Annunciation Cathedral on Valencia Street. The Greek festival is San Francisco's largest food festival, and I think the one which really started the trend of so many churches having food festivals as fundraisers.

I recommend going on Friday night, or early on Saturday. By Sunday afternoon, a lot of dishes are sold out, and by 7pm on Saturday the buffet line wraps around the building. Make sure to do the wine tasting -- some of the Greek wines will surprise you -- and to save room for loukamathes (and maybe take some home).

This weekend in Armenia

This weekend is the Armenian Food Festival at St. Gregory's Church.  Very tasty food; bring a large appetite.  Pretty much impossible to get to on Muni, but parking is easy & free.

I recommend anything involving bread & cheese, which are what Armenia does best.

We decided to skip the Taste Pavillions up at Fort Mason, mostly because they cost $65 a person, with a limited number of tastes.  But we did drop by the Marketplace in Civic Center Plaza this morning, and we're really glad we did.
