Sangria Fácil

The recipe below is meant to be multiplied based on the quantity you want to make.

• 1 750ml bottle of red wine
• 1 tbs light brown sugar (or raw sugar)
• 3 tbs brandy
• 1½ cups mixed sliced fruit
• Large glass or plastic jar

Put all ingredients in the jar. Stir or shake to mix well and dissolve the sugar. Put in fridge for at least 2 hours, and up to 3 days, before serving.

Notes on the ingredients:

The wine should be a medium-bodied table wine without strong acid or oak flavors. Merlot, Beaujelais, Ganache and blends are generally good; Cabernet Sauvignon and Chianti are generally bad. Sangria is also a good thing to do with formerly good wine which has oxidized (but not vinegared).

The fruit should be made from at least 2 different fruits from the following list: apples, pears, oranges, grapes, melons, lemons or limes. Peaches, nectarines and kiwis are OK if used underripe and fairly hard. If using lemons or limes, make sure they don't make up more than 1/3 of the fruit.
